Being simple and concise is hard work; there are a number of little known, but useful rules to follow.  These rules are based on the psychological limitations of working memory and come from scholarly sources as well as common sense.  The central issue is determining which details are important to make the overall message understood. 

We review the specific techniques such as visualization, scaffolding, presenting graphs, and the concrete-pictorial axis, which can provide a fresh way to present a complex subject. 

The workshop focuses on looking at the participants’ own presentation pages and finding ways to make them clearer, uncluttering both language and imagery.
