Much of the literature on speaking in public treats their advice as absolute, inflexible rules.  Yet there are exceptions: one generally should avoid improvising, but if the opportunity arises to joke with the audience… well, take the opportunity.

Here we focus on the “rules” as a yardstick to help measure our own strengths and weaknesses and evaluate our needs.  Participants begin with a presentation of their own, or talk about their personal passions in an animated manner.
